Chiefs Sail Past Eagles

A shorthanded Knox County boy’s basketball team took on one of
the area’s top returning varsity boy’s clubs when the Eagles tangled with
Keokuk in June 20 Quincy University shootout play.
Keenan Gillaspy buried a three pointer right off the bat for the
game’s first three points. Keokuk went on to a 93-30 victory.
The athletic Chief defense created turnovers and steals, fueling
a 17-3 run. David York scored at the 12:30 mark of the first half, trimming the
deficit to 17-7.
A highly regarded Keokuk team continued to pressure KCHS ball
handlers into mistakes. Andrew Hunolt nailed a home run ball from the wing for
a 32-15 Keokuk lead with 5:20 to play in the first half.
Keokuk led 42-19 at intermission. The Chiefs continued to show
young Knox County guards what they need to work on with a 17-2 run to a 57-21
lead with 16 minutes to play in the game.
Brock Couch sank a Knox County three for a 60-24 deficit at the
14:30 mark. Andrew Hunolt found Keenan Gillaspy for a Knox County bucket at the
8:24 mark of the second half.
Davin York led Knox County with ten points. Keenan Gillaspy
tossed in eight points. Andrew Hunolt scored three points and led the way with
four rebounds.
Brock Couch scored three points with two boards. Chance Tungate
scored three KC points. Kellen Gillaspy participated for Knox County.
