1913 – 2009
Veva H. Morris, 96, of Kahoka,
MO, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
She was born March 3, 1913 in rural Kahoka,
MO, the daughter of Jess and Ida Belle Cochran Cochenour. She was united in marriage to Glee Morris on
January 1, 1933 in Luray, MO. He
preceded her in death on December 25, 1983.
Veva farmed with her husband for over
thirty five years. In 1929, Veva joined
Bethlehem Baptist Church. She
transferred to First Baptist Church of Kahoka in 1952 where she was a member
over fifty years. She also taught
Sunday school there and was the Sunday school secretary for several years.
She was a very caring person and was
devoted to her husband and family. She
was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and treasured the times
she spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie
Wells and her husband Bill of Quincy, IL, her daughter in law, Juvernia Morris
of Bluegrass, IA, a grandson, Dr. Jeffrey Wells of Palmyra, MO, a granddaughter,
Elaine Fitzgerald and her husband Mike of Bloomington, IL, two great
granddaughters, Sophia and Kayla Fitzgerald and a great grandson, William
Wells.
Besides her husband she was also
preceded in death by her parents, her son, Bobbie Morris, a sister, Ruby
McLaughlin, and a brother, George Cochenour.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m.
Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Kahoka, MO with Dr. Rick Seaton officiating. Burial will be in the Kahoka Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m.
Monday with family meeting with friends from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Vigen Memorial
Home in Kahoka.
