Frieda Jane Barnett, age 66, of LaBelle, Missouri, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the LaBelle Manor in LaBelle, Missouri.
She was born February 2, 1943, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Selbourne and Geraldine Skirvin Hustead.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Alice, brother-in-laws Russell Edwards, Kenneth Heimer and Jack Mason.
Surviving are two sisters, Zela Edwards and special friend Dale Barnett of Quincy, Illinois, and Syddny Heimer of LaBelle, Missouri, a nephew, Chris Heimer and his fiancé Denise Johnson, great nieces and nephews, Jordan Heimer, Rachel Heimer, Alex Frazier, Willow Frazier, and Dravin Johnson.
Frieda graduated from LaBelle High School and attended Gem city Business College. She formerly had worked as an aide in local nursing homes and for eighteen years owned and operated a day care. She enjoyed caring for children and the elderly and working in the garden and growing roses.
She was a member of the Christian faith and LaBelle Chapter # 316 Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. August 9, 2009, in the Coder Funeral Chapel at LaBelle, Missouri. Officiating the services was Pastor Joe Jorgenson and Reverend Bill Nigus. Burial wasin the LaBelle Cemetery. Casket bearers were Tommy Lasswell, Dalton Hoffman, Glenn “Donk” Jones, Kevin Parrish, Dillon Hoffman and Kenneth Ball. Honorary bearers were Jerry Dawson, Sonny Blaise and Johnny Fisher.
Visitation was on Saturday, August 8, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri.
Eastern Star Services were held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, in the Chapel conducted by LaBelle Chapter # 316 O.E.S.
