Lady Indians Win Opener,  8-4 over North Shelby

The Clark County Lady Indians opened their season last week, hosting North Shelby. Clark County scored twice in the first inning.  Brianna Alderton got things going with a one-out hit.  Brooke Wheeler followed with a single.  Chelsea Edmondson loaded the bases when she was hit bya pitch.  Megan Breen then singled in Alderton with a single.  Wheeler scored from second on the play when the ball got past the first basemen.
Clark County added two more runs in the second inning.  Flood reached first on a one-out walk.  Alderton sacrificed her to second base.  Wheeler then doubled Flood home.  Wheeler then scored when Chelsea Edmondson reached on an error by the 3rd basemen.
Clark added another run in the 3rd inning.  Deanna Shoup reached first to leadoff the inning when she was hit by a pitch.  Kelsey Anderson then walked.  Hannah Trump then singled in Shoup.
North Shelby got on the scoreboard in the 5th.
Clark answered North Shelby run in the 5th  by scoring three times in the bottom of the 5th.  Trump singled to lead off the inning.  She then stole second.  Briana Alderton walked with one out.  Brooke Wheeler then singled.  Chelsea Edmonson walked with bases loaded to bring Trump Home.  Brennan followed with a single to bring in Alderton. A sacrifice by Deanna Shoup brought home Wheeler.  
North Shelby scored three runs in the top of the 7th before Jorden Plenge ended the game by throwing a Raider runner out at first from right field.
Brooke Wheeler went the distance giving up just two hits, striking out 7, walking four.  Only one of the four North Shelby runs were earned.
