Robert Lee Daniel, age 84, of Palmyra, Missouri, died at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010 at his home. Robert was born May 4, 1926 in Monroe City, Missouri to Fredrick Gaige and Clara Maude Benefield Daniel. Robert was married to Hazel Davis June 29, 1963 in Hull, Illinois; she survives of the home.

Survivors include: daughters: Rosemary Shaw of Bevier, MO; brother, Earl Daniel of Philadelphia, MO; grandchildren: Linda and Mike Bichsell of Monroe City, MO; Laura Allen of Hunnewell, MO; Angela and Thomas Spickard of Bevier, MO; David Shaw II of Navarre, FL; Freddy Shaw of Ethel, MO; Lindsey Daniel of Texas, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Daniel; his parents; siblings, Bessie Bugg, Emery Daniel, Melba Pressley, Nola Overfelt, Burel Daniel, Effie Daniel, and Louise Smallwood.
Robert had retired from Martins True Value in Hannibal. He had formerly worked as a General Foreman over inspection at Motorola Company and was a supervisor at American Safety. He attended Jacksonville/Cairo High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII where he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Boys Club, Toastmasters, and the Palmyra Kiwanis Club.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Rev. Dewayne Larenson officiated. Casket Bearers were Bill Davis, Steve Davis, Freddy Shaw, Darrell Kolarik, Thomas Spickard, Larry Davis, Stan Flesher, Todd Goodwin; Honorary Bearers were David Shaw and Gary Young. Burial with military rites was at the Knox City Cemetery in Knox City, Missouri. Visitation was from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Palmyra Nutrition Center and/or Loving Care Hospice – Bowling Green, Mo. and/or James E. Cary Cancer Center or the donor’s choice. Online
