Putnam County Leads Suspended Softball Game In Second Inning

Putnam County took advantage of four Knox County errors during the first inning of their September 21, 2010 Tri-Rivers Conference softball game for a 4-3 lead.
Bailey Couch was about to bat for Knox County (10-2, 2-0) with two out in the second inning when rain suspended the contest.
By MSHSAA rule, the game must be resumed from the point of suspension.
All statistics will carry over to the completion of the suspended game. The contest is currently slated to resume on Friday, October 1 at 5PM at Knox County.
Putnam and Knox County have an October 1 conference football game at Knox County with a 7PM kickoff.
Katie Ryals led off the game with a Putnam County base hit. Ryals stole second base and later scored on an error. Kailee Sherer reached on the first of four first inning Knox County errors.
Samantha Shipley was thrown out by KCHS shortstop Devin Gudehus for the first out of inning one. The next two Putnam County batters reached base on errors.
Rachel Poston fanned Chelsea Starrett for the second out. Camile Banez reached base on an error.
Stacey Leckbee retrieved the softball and started a play ending in Banez being thrown out at second base to end the inning.
Knox County answered with a three run first inning. Hannah Dale drew a one out walk from Lady Midget starter Samantha Shipley.
Bailey Couch singled and stole second base. Hannah Dale cut into the four run PC lead when she stole home. Devin Gudehus walked. Rachel Poston banged out an RBI hit. Courtesy runner Hannah Strange stole second base.
Couch and Gudehus scored, trimming the Putnam County lead to 4-3. The Lady Eagles batted around in the first inning. A two out pitch hit Sarah Dooley.
Dei Burgess drew a walk putting Lady Eagles on first and second base. Samantha Shipley induced a ground ball out to end the inning.
Rachel Poston struck out the first two batters she faced in the second inning. Katie Ryals flew to Mackenzie Hustead to end the Putnam County second inning.
Samantha Shipley struck out the first two batters she faced in the bottom of the second inning. The rains came, ending the contest for the time being.
Bailey Couch will be at the plate with two out in the bottom of the second inning when the game resumes. Putnam County (8-8, 0-2) will hold a 4-3 lead.
