ORVAL R. SNOW

Orval Roger Snow, 81 of rural Novelty died Friday morning, March 25, 2011 at the LaPlata Nursing Home.


Roger was born July 17, 1929 in Novelty, MO to Charles and Sophia (Kautz) Snow. He was united in marriage to Dolly Krawl on June 19, 1953 in Kirksville, MO. Roger and Dolly made there home on the family farm in Novelty, MO and farmed until his retirement. He served his country in the Korean War and was a proud member of the Novelty American Legion Post. Roger loved to take Dolly out dancing, enjoyed his garden and helping out around the farm, camping was a family tradition to him and he would never turn down a game of cards. He was a devoted coyote hunter and loved going to the grandkids’ ballgames. Roger was a very patient man, always had time to help a friend, always knew what to say, and always led by example.


Roger was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Curtis, Ralph, Raymond and Robert Snow; four sisters, Velma Goodwin, Dorothy Taylor, Deloma Snow and Ruby Voyles.


He is survived by his wife Dolly; a son, Lester Snow and his wife Marlene of Laplata; two daughters, Carolyn Watson and her husband Charley of Atlanta, Judy Franke and her husband Curtis of Laplata; a sister, Leota Krawl of Atlanta, MO; 3 grandchildren Angie Weber and her husband Danny, Charles Watson and his wife April, Cory Snow and his wife Brandi; six great grandchildren Brooklyn and Shaelyn Weber, Aleassa Hruska, Calli and Josh Watson, and Connor Snow.


Graveside services with full military honors and burial was Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO with Rev. Denzil Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Novelty American Legion Post.
