DONALD R. MCMILLEN
CSM Donald Richard McMillen, RET. age 81 died, September 28, 2011.
“Mac” born January 10, 1930, was the first-born child of Kenneth and Lucille McMillen of Chicago, Illinois. Shortly after his first birthday the family moved to a farm in Edina, Missouri.
Mac graduated from St. Joseph High School and in 1950 he joined the army. In 1952 he married his sweetheart, Barbara Bell from Quincy, Illinois. He proudly served the US Army for 30 years, in Korea, Viet Nam, Germany, Turkey and Iran, as well as many places in the states. He was an avid fisherman everywhere he went. He and Barbara settled in Washington in the mid 1970’s. When he retired from the military, he worked for 10 years at the US Post Office in Tacoma, before becoming a full-time fisherman.
Mac was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, of 56 years in 2008; and a sister, Margaret Ann Breen. He is survived by his current wife, Katherine E. Larson; sons, Richard (Mary), Michael (Mary), Mark and Terence; daughters, Patricia Riddle (Terry), Kathleen Burba, and Susan Behrnes (Paul); step children, Dale E. Larson, (Kelly), Diane E. Larson, Dana C. Larson, (Mary Ann), Dan E. Larson, (Heidi) and David E. Larson, Mihoko); 30 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; other survivors are a brother, Gene McMillen, (Rosemary); sister, Betty Hamilton, (Gene); cousins, Jerry, (Linda) McMillen, Jim, (Sue) McMillen, and Joan Petit.
