Rogene Dye, 72 of Carthage, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 12:15 p.m.

Rogene was born April 30, 1939, in Carthage, IL, the daughter of Francis and Leota (Sparrow) Lunt.

She graduated from Carthage High School in 1957. On November 22, 1961, she was united in marriage to Thomas Dye in Peoria, IL. Rogene started her married life teaching at Dallas City and Warsaw, IL. She then taught music many years at Union Douglas School south of Carthage. After teaching, she was a stay at home mom and was active in many school, community and church activities. Rogene loved seeing her grandchildren play sports in Princeville, IL and was an avid Blueboy/Bluegirl fan. In November of 2011, Rogene and her husband, Tom, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family.

Rogene is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Carthage; a daughter, Jeri D. Hilgert of Quincy, IL; a son, John T. (Janene) Dye of Princeville, IL; a grandson, Jacob Dye of Princeville; a granddaughter, Lauren Dye of Princeville; one sister, Jearlyn (Darrell) Plumley of Carthage; and a brother, Dick (Katey) Lunt of Carthage.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Robert Hilgert.

Her husband was related to many local families of Edina.

Funeral services were Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, IL. Pastor Steve Smith officiated. Burial was in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, IL.
