FRANCES I. PULIS



Frances Irene Pulis, 81 of Brighton, died February 25, 2012. She was born September 24, 1930 in Kirksville, MO to the late Oscar Guy and Alta May (Kent) Shaffer.


Frances was united in marriage to Claud D. Pulis on October 27, 1947 in Kahoka, MO and shared 51 years together. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1999. Together they had eight children, six who preceded her in death. Benny was killed on February 25, 1961 in an accident with a truck, four of their children, Bernice, Richard, Lee and Penny Jo, died in a house fire on December 1, 1975 and Guy passed away on January 27, 2008 from lung cancer. The greatest joy of her life was her children.


Frances worked in the nursing field for over 45 years. Frances always attended church and last attended Four Rivers Baptist Church in Marshfield, MO and enjoyed reading her Bible daily. She was strong woman of faith.


She leaves behind two daughters, Becky Compton and husband Billy Wayne of Brighton, MO and Margie Compton and husband David of Kirbyville, MO; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; three sisters, Evelyn Davis of Springfield, MO, Nadean Haley of Russellville, AR and Imogene Rouse and husband Jay of Pryor, OK; one aunt, Leona Williams of Dardanelle, AR; two nephews and one niece who were like children, Mark and Davy Pulis and D-Ann Robinson; numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends.


Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside services were held in Linville Cemetery, Edina, MO on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
