Knox County Football Travels To Milan For Four Team Jamboree
By David Sharp
The Knox County Eagles will unveil their preparations for the 2012 varsity football season to the public at the August 17, 2012 Milan Wildcat Football Jamboree. The Eagles and host Milan will kick off play at 7PM.
Milan Jamboree participants will be Princeton, Putnam County, Knox County and Milan. The Wildcats were undefeated Tri-Rivers Conference football champions in 2011.
Milan completed a spotless 10-0 regular season, their best since 1919.
Milan lost a rain soaked Regional playoff game to Westran by a 39-0 margin.
Knox County completed their 2011 football season at eventual Class 1 state runner up South Shelby by a 39-8 final.
South Shelby topped Westran 28-14 on their path to the Edward D. Jones Dome.
Missouri High School football jamborees are used by participating schools as a final tune up for their varsity regular season. The Jamborees will be divided into quarters.
Each team will get 12 offensive plays, and 12 defensive plays.
Coaches are permitted on the field, but are expected not to delay play with injuries, equipment problems and substitutions taken into consideration.
Quarters will begin with the football placed on the offensive team’s 20 yard line.
First downs will be awarded and the ball marked after each play. When a team’s allotted 12 plays are completed, the other club will begin their 12 play offensive set.
There will be no kicking game in the Jamboree. Defenses are limited to defensive line slants unless both schools agree. Linebackers and defensive backs are not supposed to stunt or run crossing plays.
Knox County will be assigned the Northeast portion of the sideline. Milan will be on the same side of the field with Putnam County and Princeton on the southern portion of the sideline.
Coaches can take their teams beyond the end zone when not competing.
Putnam County and Princeton will take the field for the second quarter. Putnam and Knox County will play the third quarter. Milan and Princeton run the fourth quarter.
Knox County will close their Milan Jamboree participation in the fifth quarter with Princeton. Milan and Putnam County will conclude the 2012 Milan Jamboree with a sixth quarter.
