ORINDA BODE
Orinda Bode, age 88 of Edina, MO, formerly of Shelbina, died Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the home of her son in Edina.
She was born November 7, 1923, in Shelby County, MO, the daughter of Roy Dayhoff and Velma Feely Hatcher. On March 8, 1944, she was united in marriage to George Bode. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2003.
Orinda is survived by five children, John and Patt Bode of Edina, MO, Janet and Gary Foster of Shelbina, MO, Jim and Debbie Bode of Shelbina, MO, Jennie Bode Harrington of Phoenix, AX and Jacki and Clayton Kline of Edina, MO; ten grandchildren, Greg and Amy Bode of Phoenix, AZ, Laura Bode of Sunnyvale, CA, Steve and Echo Foster of Shelbina, MO, Linda and Steve Fahle of Shelbina, MO, Mike and Caroline Bode of Shelbina, MO, Colette and Mark Tracy of Cairo, MO, Rachel, Elijah, Josh and Anna Kline of Edina, MO; sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Ruth LeFevre and two brothers, Guymon and Dick Hatcher.
Orinda was a 1941 graduate of Shelbyville High School and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edina. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed music, cooking gardening and taking walks. Orinda had an amazing faith in the Lord and lived a life of selfless service.
Funeral services were Monday, September 10, 2012, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Burial was in the Shelbina Cemetery. Jim Bilbro and Bro. John Edwards officiated.
