Marita Parrish Pennycuff, 97 of Mountain View, OK, died January 9, 2013, in Corn, OK.
She was born July 29, 1915 in Sedan, OK, to T.P. and Hattie (Jenkins) Parrish. She attended school at Sedan, OK, and graduated from Mountain View High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Okalahoma A&M in 1939. She farmed with her father until her marriage and continued framing with her husband until his death and continued with help until she retired. Marita was active helping with funeral dinners and serving the Rotary Club. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mountain View, OK and took great pride in the landscaping around the church.
Survivors include one niece, Sue McCoy and husband, Burt, one nephew, John Parrish and wife, Cathy, one sister-in-law, Norine Parrish all of Mountain View, OK; four great nieces and nephews, Shane Oberle and husband, Michael of Austin, TX, Jennifer Terry and husband, Erik of New Braunfels, TX, Casey Ninman and husband, Bobby of Yukon, OK, Christopher McCoy of Austin, TX; along with great-great nieces and nephews.
Marita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, D.L. (Fate) Pennycuff (1963), and brother, Norris Parrish.
Word was received here by June Kline of the death of her cousin Marita in OK. Marita’s mother was born in Lewis Co. and her father Purdon Parrish was born in Knox Co. “Purd” homesteaded in OK at an early age and reared his daughter, Marita, and son, Norris there.
Funeral services were held at Mountain View Methodist Church Monday, January 7, 2013 and burial was in the Mountain View Cemetery.
