Lady Indians Upset Monroe City in District Opener

The Clark County Lady Indians shocked the Class 3 District 7 tournament on Tuesday night, upsetting the 19-3 Monroe City Lady Panthers 45-42.
Clark County scored first as Mishaylee Cline stole the ball and sprinted for a layup, which rattle out of the basket, but Hunter kirchner got the put back.
Jenna Huston was on fire early for Clark County, score eight in the first quarter as the Lady Indians took a 14-13 lead.
Clark County got a very slow start in the second quarter, not scoring for nearly four and a half minutes before Huston would hit a bucket.  Sloppy ball handling by the Lady Panther allowed Clark County to stay in the contest.
Taylor Carter tied the game at 18 after hitting two free throws, and Huston hit a jump shot with 30 seconds left in the half to take a 20-18 halftime lead.
Cline opened the third quarter by burying a three pointer, and after three quarters of play, Clark County took a 28-25 lead.
Both teams battled evenly through the final quarter, with the lead changing a couple times.
With one minute left, Clark County held a 39-38 lead.  Monroe City hit one of two free throws to tie the game.
Huston responded, hitting a pair of free throws to take a 41-39 Lady Indian lead with 37 seconds left.
Cline drew a foul, and hit both buckets to give the Lady Indians a 43-39 lead with 24 seconds remaining.
Monroe City nailed a three pointer with 11 seconds to bring them within a point, but Huston hit two more free throws with just six seconds remaining to give Clark County a 45-42 upset win.
Mishaylee Cline and Jenna Huston each scored 16 for Clark County.  Brittani Miller had four points, and Hunter Kirchner added three.  Taylor Carter and Wednesday McCluskey each finished with two points.miller inside
