Mary Elizabeth Willey
Mary Elizabeth Willey, 94, formerly of Cameron, IL, died peacefully in Fort Myers, FL on February 11.
Daughter of the late Rev. Fey and Leona Willey, she was born in Greensburg, MO on August 19, 1918. Miss Willey graduated from Blandinsville High School and attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers’ College. After teaching school for several years, she continued her education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science. She served as librarian at Seymor Hall, Knox College for 36 years. An active retiree, Mary Elizabeth taught Sunday school, did countless hours of volunteer work and gave demonstrations with her beloved hearing dog, Herbie. A long time loved and respected member of her Cameron community, she moved to Florida in 2010 to be near her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles Willey and stepmother Pearl.
Survivors include sister-in-law Betty Willey and niece Peggy Clendenin, both of Fort Myers, stepsister Barbara Root, Galesburg, a great nephew, two great nieces and seven great great nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Greensburg Cemetery, Greensburg, MO.
Memorials may be made to the Cameron Christian Church.
