New Scotland Co. Coroner Appointed By Gov. Nixon

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Jeffrey Davis, D.O., of Memphis, as the new coroner for Scotland County. The position became vacant upon the death of Coroner Virginia Monroe.

Dr. Davis, an Independent, is a family medicine physician and chief of staff at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, and has served the hospital in several positions. He also is school physician for the Scotland County Schools, and previously was medical director for the Scotland County Health Department. Dr. Davis obtained his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (now A.T. Still University).

“I am pleased to appoint Dr. Jeffrey Davis as the new Scotland County Coroner,” Gov. Nixon said. “With his experience as a physician in this region, I am confident in his ability to serve the people of Scotland County as their coroner. I also appreciate the service of Virginia Monroe in this position before her passing away.”
