Tractor Trailer Hauling Manure Overturned In Northwest Knox County

Monday morning, October 14, 2013, at approximately 8:30 a.m. a tractor trailer carrying a tank with approximately 7,000 gallons of manure overturned on State Route C in northwest Knox County.
The tractor trailer was traveling north when it went off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
The cab of the truck was crushed during the crash and the driver was injured. He was taken by helicopter to the University Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri.
As a result of the crash the tank emptied most of its contents into the ditch where it came to rest, which is about 200 yards north of a north fork of the Fabius River. A small berm was built in the ditch to keep the manure sludge from flowing into the creek.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Knox County Ambulance District and Baring Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call.
