Alice Marie Kriegshauser Bruegenhemke

Alice Marie Kriegshauser Bruegenhemke   Alice Marie Kriegshauser Bruegenhemke, 79, of Baring, Missouri died Thursday,  January 16, 2014 at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of Clem and Mary (McCloskey) Kriegshauser, she was born on August 20, 1934 in Baring, Missouri.  On January 25, 1954 she married Donald R. Bruegenhemke in Baring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Kriegshauser; one sister, Mary (Kriegshauser) Lang; one son, Brian  Bruegenhemke; and one son-in-law, Terry Morrow.

Alice was raised in Baring and attended school at the St. Joseph Catholic School in Edina, Missouri and Baring High School in Baring, where she graduated with the class of 1952.  Alice and Donald owned the Bruegenhemke Market in Baring for several years.  She later went on to work as a teacher’s aide at the Baring Elementary School where she greatly enjoyed working with the students. Alice was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and Altar Society.  She was also a member of the Baring Country Club.

Alice loved the Baring Lake and spent many hours there with her siblings at the family cabin, and later with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed traveling and was an avid card player.  Most of all, Alice loved spending time with her family.

Alice is survived by her husband, Donald; one son, Mark and his wife, Judy Bruegenhemke of Kirksville, Missouri; one daughter, Lisa Morrow of Baring, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Bruegenhemke of Columbia, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kaitlin, Drew and Allie Bruegenhemke all of Columbia, Missouri; Scott Simpson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Shawn and  his wife, Hilarie Simpson of Edmond, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Connor Simpson and Anderson Simpson; one sister, Ann (Kriegshauser) Wilson of North Plains, Oregon; one brother, Larry Kriegshauser of Wilsonville, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in  Baring, Missouri. A Christian Prayer Service was held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina. Burial was in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Baring, Missouri. Father Joseph Hoi officiated and music was provided by Jim and Kyle Clark. Pall Bearers were Craig Mayer, Doug Mayer, Gary Mayer, Michael Higgins, David Higgins and Steve Kiley.

An expression of sympathy in memory of Alice Bruegenhemke may be left to the St. Aloysius Cemetery Fund or to the Donor’s Choice. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 North 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
