Clark Co. Presiding Commissioner, Prosecutor, Clerk and Circuit Clerk All Face Contested Races
Clark County voters will have some choices to make in this year’s primary and general elections. Current Presiding Commissioner Ron Brewer faces a Republican primary challenge from Buddy Kattelmann. As of Monday morning, no Democrats had filed for the office.
Prosecuting Attorney John Moon, a Democrat, will face a challenge from Republican Holly Conger.
The County Clerk’s office will be vacant due to the retirement of Leih Ann Hayden, and Democrat Steve Howell and Republican Jena Church will face off for that job.
The Circuit Clerk’s race got more interesting on Monday, at Terry Ray Matlock filed as a Republican. She will face Kim Schantz in the primary to decide who will challenge incumbent Circuit Clerk Kay Biggerstaff, a Democrat.
In the race for the Recorder of Deeds offices, Democrat Karen Davidson will face Republican Melissa Bevans.
Republican Michelle Allen has no challenger for her job as County Collector, and Republican Treasurer Roberta McAfee is also unchallenged.
Associate Judge Rick Roberts, also a Republican, has no challenger.
Committeperson filings will not appear on the ballot. They are:

Paul Brotherton (D) Lincoln Committee
Roberta McAfee (R) Madison Committee
Charles Kerner (R) Lincoln Committee
Roger Gaston (R) Folker Committee
Judith Gaston (R) Folker Committee
At the state level, both Representative Craig Redmon and Senator Brian Munzlinger are running unopposed.
