Indians Down South Shelby In Baseball
Addison Sprague crossed the plate three times in Thursday’s Clarence Cannon conference game at South Shelby, as the Indians picked up their second win of the season 11-9.
The Indians took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Sprague walked to start the game, then advanced to second on a passed ball. Bryce Shaffer doubled to left, scoring Sprage. Phillips popped up for the inning’s first out, and Brent Tweedy then reached first on a fielder’s choice, where Shaffer was out at third.
Tweedy stole second, and Dillon Allen walked. Wyatt Ray was hit by a pitch, loading the bases.
Braydon kirchner singled, scoring Tweedy and Allen to give Clark County a 3-0 lead.
South Shelby got one run in the first inning.
The Indians scored three more runs in the second inning. Sprague was hit by a pitch, then stole second. Shaffer singled, sending Sprague to third. Cyrus Phillip doubled, scoring both Sprague and Shaffer.
Bryce Burr would be a pinch runner for Phillips, and would score when Corvia walked with the bases loaded, giving Clark County a 6-1 lead.
The Cardinals would pick up a run in the third inning to make the score 6-2.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Tucker Yates walked to open the fifth inning, then took second on a passed ball. Sprague and Shaffer walked to load the bases, and Phillips singled to score Sprague and Shaffer, giving Clark County an 8-2 lead.
Burr scored on a Sprague single in the sixth as the Indians took a 9-3 lead.
Devon Mortimer and Wyatt Ray scored in the seventh inning, give Clark County an 11-3 lead through the top of the seventh
The Indians held off a rally by South Shelby, and won the contest 11-9.
Cyrus Phillips pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and three runs. Dillon Allen pitched 2/3 of an inning, giving up five hits and allowing six runs.
