UPDATE: Man Accidentally Shot In Hunting Accident In Southwest Knox County

According to the Knox County Sheriff Allen Gudehus, the hunter who was accidentally shot with a rifle during a hunting accident southeast of Novelty is a 31-year-old man from Mascoutah, Illinois. His injuries were serious.

The man was accidentally shot by another man in his hunting party, a family member who is 54-years-old from Okawville, Illinois.

There were four men in the hunting party, all family members, hunting deer on a Knox County farm when the accident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014.

The shooting victim was taken by helicopter to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

The names of the parties involved have not been released.

According to Knox County Sheriff Allen Gudehus, on Monday afternoon, November 17, 2014, at approximately 2:15 p.m. an Illinois man was accidentally shot by a family member on a Knox County farm southeast of Novelty. The men were part of the same hunting party. A rifle was involved.

The identities of the people involved have not been released.

The injured man was taken by helicopter to an area hospital. It is unknown which hospital he was taken to. The seriousness of his injuries have not been released.
