Carl Edward Willey, age 101, of Shelbina, MO, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at the Salt River Community Care Center in Shelbina, MO.
Born October 28, 1913, in Newark, Missouri, Carl was the son of George Edward and Martha Belle Adams Willey. Carl E. Willey united in marriage with Mary Lillian Wood on March 15, 1937. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2010.
Also surviving are: one daughter, Jo Ann Miller and husband Robert; two grandchildren, Mariann Amass and husband Ronald of Rolla, MO, and David W. Miller and wife Amy of St. Peters, MO; five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Rosalie Claggett Lecour of Stevensville, Montana, one brother Archie Willey of Monroe City, MO and one brother-in-law Vincil L. Wood of Bolivar, MO. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Grover and Ira Willey, two sister-in-laws: Elaine Willey and Loretta Wood, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Willey was a former member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Quincy, IL. Carl worked as a produce manager for Kroger Company in Quincy, IL for 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, and woodworking. He was active in his church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Carl had a great interest in family history and genealogy. After retirement he and his wife moved to Hillsboro, MO to be close to his family and especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services were held November 29, 2014, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with burial at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Shelbyville, MO.
