Doyle Oliver Benson, age 92, of LaBelle, MO, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014, in the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL. He was born July 14, 1922, in West Plains, MO, the son of Lloyd Oliver and Adna Marie Bragg Benson. He was united in marriage to Mary Frances Landon November 21, 1942, in Palmyra, MO and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2011. Doyle was also preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister.
Surviving are two children, Francis Benson and wife Mitzi of Lewistown, MO, Phyllis Boudreau and husband Pete of Farmington, IA, four grandchildren, Kevin Benson and wife Shelia, Kelly Cox and husband David, Chad Boudreau and wife Stacy and Angela Appleman and husband Cam, eleven great grandchildren, Kaitlin Benson, Kyle Benson, Kegan Brown, Megan Brown, Caleb Cox, Quincy Boudreau, Carley Boudreau, Cason Boudreau, Isabel Boudreau, Zeb Appleman and Melati Appleman. Doyle received his education in Illinois. He served his country in the United States Army from March 1945 to April 1946. Doyle was engaged in farming in Illinois until 1955 when he moved to Lewis County and farmed in the Steffenville area until his retirement in 1991. Doyle enjoyed tractor pulling and restoration. He was a member of the Antique Car Club at Kirksville, MO, a member of the LaBelle Christian Church, and a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Pastor Olivia Earlywine will officiate the services. Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Kevin Benson, Chad Boudreau, Cameron Appleman, Kegan Brown, David Cox, and Pete Boudreau. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2014, from 9 a.m. till time of services at 11 a.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO.
