Norma Virginia Mayer, age 87, of Baring, MO, died Monday, November 17, 2014, in the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, MO.
She was born October 18, 1927, in Baring, MO, the daughter of Stephen Gary and Mary Louise Schlepphorst Mayer.
Surviving is one sister Janet Moore of Baring, MO, one sister-in-law Ruth Mayer of Kirksville, MO, and several nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Norma received her education in Baring, MO. She was employed at the Glove Factory in Edina, MO, the Shaffer Pen Company in Ft. Madison, IA, and was an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Ft. Madison, IA. After her retirement she moved back to Baring. She was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring. She enjoyed reading Western’s and History and spending time with family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 A.M. Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring, MO. Father Joseph Hoi officiated at the services. Burial was in the St. Aloysius Cemetery. Music was provided by Brent Karhoff and Maggie Delaney.
Casket bearers were Gary Mayer, Doug Mayer, Craig Mayer, Nathan Overstreet, Tony Snelling and Steve Blodgett.
A Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening in Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
