Elizabeth (Early) Kiley

Elizabeth Kiley   Elizabeth Ellen (Early) Kiley, 84, of Baring, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on Friday, February 6, 2015 in Columbia, Mo.

Born in Baring, Missouri, on February 2, 1931, Elizabeth was the daughter of Peter Harold (Grouch) and Margaret Ellen (Nellie) Delaney Early.   At the age of 2, she and her family moved to their farm south of Edina, where Elizabeth lived until her marriage, to Joseph H. Kiley of Baring on November 26, 1951.   Immediately after high school, Elizabeth worked at P.N. Hirsch.  Then through the years, she worked at Baring Elementary School, Hurdland Elementary School, Knox County High School and Farmers Market in Baring.

Joe and Elizabeth raised five daughters and a son: Teresa Moore of Blue Springs, MO and her children Meghan and Matthew; Mary (Bud) Porter of Savannah, MO and their children John and Jane; Jani (Bob) Sandknop of Boonville, MO and their daughters Jennifer (Gerrad) Bard and their son Hunter, and Erin and Katherine Sandknop; Juli Rieck of Ballwin, MO and her children Nicholas and Sarah; Camilla (Rich) Burns of Raleigh, N.C. and their daughters Kiley and Ryan; and Kevin (Jill Hall) Kiley of Columbia, MO and their sons Jack and Josiah.  Also surviving are her sister Mary Kriegshauser of Edina, MO, her brother-in-law Bob Elsea of Chesterfield, MO, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Edina Country Club, the Knox County Home Health Advisory Board, St. Aloysius Altar Society, and a life-long member of the Baring Country Club.

Her hobbies included flower gardening, watching the Cardinals and the Tigers, playing bridge, cooking and baking (especially cinnamon rolls), and visiting with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe on May 4, 2000, her grandson Joseph Kevin Kiley on January 7, 2000, as well as her parents, two brothers and their wives, J.T. and Frances Early and Pete and Mary Virginia Early, a sister and her husband Cora and Dick Kelly and a sister Rita Elsea, a brother- and sister-in-law Jim and Bernadine Kiley and a brother-in-law Carl Kriegshauser.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held February 9, 2015, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring.  Father Mike Coleman and Father Bill Kottenstette were officiates for the services.  Burial was in St. Aloysius Cemetery.  Music was provided by Katie Delaney and Jackie Kiley.

Casket bearers were her children.   Honorary bearers were nephews: Terry Kiley, Jeff Early, Matt Kriegshauser, Joe Kelly, Mike Fox, Rich Elsea, Pat Kriegshauser, and Geery Early.
