Blanche Loretta (Humphrey) Kutcher

Blanche Loretta (Humphrey) Kutcher, 106, passed away at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, Missouri.

She was born January 20, 1909 to Sarah (Sally) Virginia Page and Joseph Olonzo Humphrey in St. Louis, Missouri. She married Albert Adam Kutcher Dec 24, 1927 in Princeton, Missouri. To this union two daughters were born: Esther Marie (Harley) Weaver and Dorothy Jean (Keith) Muntz.

Blanche was a preacher’s daughter and she often talked of revivals and living with a traveling preacher. She joined Albert, Keith, and Dorothy in operating Muntz and Kutcher grocery store in Farmington. When she and Al retired to the country, she loved gardening, flowers, raising calves and sheep. She loved working at Rider’s Nursery bunching plants “with the girls”. Blanche was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church, was active in church groups: teaching Sunday school, playing the piano in church and was a member of WSCS, PEO, Farmington Cemetery Association and a charter member of Farmington Bible Study. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and crafter throughout her life. All of the children and grandchildren enjoyed the quilts Grandma Kutcher made. She hosted many New Year’s Eve parties for the grandkids and gave many of them piano lessons. She loved getting “all dolled” up and going out to eat or visit with her family.

Besides her daughter Esther, she is survived by seven grandchildren: Debbie (Chuck) Slifer of Sterling, Illinois, Barbie (Paul) O’Day of Kahoka, Missouri, Janet Millen of Columbia, Missouri, Steve (Caryn) Weaver of Kahoka, Missouri, Kathy (Ross) O’Day of Farmington, Iowa, Kent (Lesa) Muntz of Burlington, Iowa, Curt (Sue) Muntz of Muscatine, Iowa.

Also surviving are eighteen great grandchildren: Kristin (Adam) Pena, Michael (Anna) O’Day, Amy O’Day, Clayton Millen, Jennifer Millen (Jake Pogrotsky), Andrew Millen, Greg Weaver, John (Cari) Weaver, Jeff (Britni) Weaver, Lisa (TJ) Duncan, Kristi (Dave) Bruner, Clint (Tami) O’Day, Kaci (Jesse) Goldstein, Kristopher and Mason Muntz, Amanda, Rebecca, and Adam Muntz and twenty three great, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert of 75 years, her daughter, Dorothy, her parents, sisters: Ethel (Warren) Griffith and Ruby (Russell) Faubion, brothers: Donald (Winnie) Humphrey and Otis (Lucy) Humphrey, and sons-in-law Harley Weaver and Keith Muntz.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Farmington United Methodist Church in Farmington, Iowa where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Farmington United Methodist Church in Farmington with Pastor Goldie Laymon and Pastor Dean Tomlinson officiating.

Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery.
