Joseph E. Matticks

Joseph E. Matticks, 95, of Moline, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is from 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion, Post 246. Memorials may be given to Alleman Catholic High School or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Joseph was born March 1, 1920 in Edina, Missouri, the son of Joseph M. & Mary N. (Bruegenhemke) Matticks. He married Pansy E. Lepper on September 18, 1943 in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death on May 16, 1995.
He worked at the former John Deere Plow Planter Works, Moline, as a Press Operator for 25 years, retiring in 1985.
Joseph was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Moline and served in the Navy during WWII.
He is survived by his daughter, Ramona (Dan) Ballard, Rock Island; son, Victor L. (Barb) Brown, Jr., Rock Island; sisters, Mary M. Sohn, Quincy, Doris Scott, AZ, Jackie (Dan) Gray, Gladstone, MO, Wanda Marczak, MN; brother, Fred (Evelyn) Matticks, Quincy, IL; grandchildren, the late Victor (Colleen) Brown III, Robert (Jayne) Brown, Tracy (George) Schroeder, Brenda (Mike) Trent, Peggy (Brad) Yeager, Alaina (Jason) Mach, Abby (Bill) Pedersen and April Schroe
der; step-grandchildren, Terry (Donna) Hoebing, Tina Hoebing, Tracy (Alan) Lawless and Tami (Nick) Wriedt; 16 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pansy, and sisters, Ruth Smith, Sarah “Sally” Claus, Kate Veach, Edith McAfee and Maxine Coulson.
