Kahoka Police Warn of Check Scam

Kahoka Police Chief Bill Conger is warning residents of another scam going around the area.

In this case, several residents reported receiving an unexpected check in the mail. The check, like the one shown, has fraudulent bank information and routing number printed on it. Residents cashing the check at a bank will be liable for the money.

As of Friday afternoon, Conger had received about four complaints. He is sending them to the Missouri Attorney General’s office for investigation.

“If you’re not expecting money from someone you know, it’s probably a scam,” Conger said.
