Area Athletes Bring Home Hardware From Large School MSHSAA Track And Field Championships

Clark County’s girl’s 4x800m relay team won Class 3 seventh place medals at the May 29-30, 2015 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships for Class 3-5 schools.
Renae Buschling, Keelie O’Brien, Rachel Buschling and Drenda Hess ran a 10:14.03 second time winning seventh place medals. East Newton won the Class 3 distance relay gold medal in 9:50.64 seconds.
Top eight finishers in each event win a medal. Competitors winning a medal at the state track meet receive all state track and field status.
The 4x800m relay is one event with no preliminary round. All 16 teams competed in the same race.
Highland’s girl’s 4x200m relay team placed fifth in their preliminary heat, placing tenth overall in Class 3 with a time of 1:51.76 seconds.
Avery Johnson, Amber Garner, Justice Sly and Charnice Smith ran the 4x200m relay for the Lady Cougars.
Clark County senior Renae Buschling finished ninth overall in the girl’s Class 3 3200m run, finishing in 11:58.17 seconds.
Fatima freshman Brianna Haller won the CL3 girl’s 3200 meters in 11:20.42 seconds.
Nine time Highland school record holder Avery Johnson wrapped up a stellar high school athletic career by winning an eighth place medal in the girl’s 800m run.
Avery Johnson turned in a time of 2:26.20 seconds. St James junior Parker Fane won the Class 3 girl’s 800 meters in 2:17.39 seconds. Johnson was all state in softball and track this season. She heads to Culver-Stockton College this fall on a softball scholarship.
Clark County senior Jessica Roberts finished an outstanding track and field career by winning the seventh place Class 3 girl’s discus medal. Roberts fired the disc 104’10”.
St. Louis John Burroughs senior Jordan McClendon won the CL3 girl’s discus gold medal at 142’11”.
Renae Buschling finished about three and a half seconds from a state medal in the Class 3 girl’s 1600m run.
Missouri State University bound Renae Buschling finished ninth overall in 5:27.97 seconds.
St. James junior Parker Fane won the 1600m gold medal in 5:11.87 seconds.

Lady Indians Medal at State Track Meet-The Clark County Lady Indians medalled in the 4×800 relay race at the Class 3 State Track Meet, held Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City. The team of Drenda Hess, Keelie O’Brien, Renae Buschling and Rachel Buschling finished seventh, with a time of 10:14.03. Jessica Roberts finished seventh in the discus, with a throw of 104’ 10”.
