Shirley Ann English, age 74, of Canton, MO, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Shirley was born August 13, 1940, a daughter of David and Edna McIntosh Phillips.

She was married to Lloyd English who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Doug (Michelle) English of Kahoka, MO and Elvis English (Amber Neff), of Williamstown, MO; seven grandchildren: Jared and Dylan English, and Abigail English (Nate Moore), all of Kahoka; Lyden, Matthew and Nevaeh English all of LaHarpe, IL and Aaden McDowell of Williamstown, MO; one step-granddaughter, Mariah Berry of Tyler, TX; one great-grandson, Elliott Moore of Kahoka, MO; eleven brothers and sisters: Mary Jane Page of Montrose, IA, Marilyn Garrels of Birmingham, IA, Linda (Mrs. Dan) Shirey of Canton, MO, Vickie (Mrs. Jerry) Lair of Williamstown, MO, Angie (Mrs. Rock) Schaller of Canton, MO, Yvonne (Larry) Dudgeon of Centralia, MO, David (Lora) Phillips, Jr. of Williamstown, MO, Carmon Lindsey of Canton, MO, Pam (Mrs. Randall) Briscoe of Williamstown, MO, Steve (Stephanie) Phillips of Canton, MO and Gretchen Phillips of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Wayne “Jake” Murphy, Oral “Butch” Murphy and Rocky J. Phillips; two sisters, Donna Nelson and Robin Moffitt; a step-son, Bobby English; and a step-daughter, Peggy Humphrey.

Shirley spent most of her life as a housewife and babysitting for her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed making potholders for family and friends and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. She absolutely loved being with her children, her grandkids, siblings, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Wesley Davis officiating. Special music was “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “Flawless”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Blue Suede .
Shoes.

Honorary pallbearers were David Phillips, Jr., Steve Phillips, Randall Briscoe, Danny Shirey and Dylan English. Pallbearers were Jared English, Elvis English, Nate Phillips, David Phillips, Wayne Murphy and Rock Schaller.

Burial was in Liberty Cemetery, rural Williamstown, MO.

Visitation was held Friday at Wilson Funeral Home between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday with family receiving friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at 2.
