Carol Jean Purdin

Carol Jean Purdin age 75, of Hurdland, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at her home north of Hurdland, Missouri.

Born December 11, 1939, in Knox County, Missouri, Carol Jean was the daughter of Claude Franklin and Selma Faye Lancaster Barnes.

She was united in marriage with Stanley Lee Purdin on November 1, 1958, in Edina, Missouri.

Surviving are her husband, Stanley Lee Purdin of Hurdland, Missouri; two daughters. Opal McCafferty and Ron of Quincy, Illinois, and Annette Whiles and Bill, of Hurdland, Missouri; three sisters, Donna Patterson of Kirksville, Missouri, Sandra Hoskins of Hurdland, Missouri, Kay Cassady of Kirksville, Missouri; four brothers, Derrel Barnes of Kirksville, Missouri, Harold Barnes and Linda of Wright City, Missouri, Larry Barnes of Edina, Missouri, and Ronnie Barnes and Janna of Kirksville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ashley Marshall of Quincy, Illinois, Katie and Clayton Whiles of Hurdland, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Gerald James, Claude Jr., and Richard Barnes.

Carol graduated from Brashear High School.  She was employed for several years as a cook in Hurdland School and Knox County High School.  She was also employed at the Edina Post Office.  Carol enjoyed quilting, flowers and spending time with her family.

Carol’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held.  Burial will be held at a later date.
