ALICE T. GALLUP

Alice T. Gallup, age 80, of Kahoka, MO, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Residential Care Facility in Kahoka.

Alice was born March 31, 1935 near Revere, MO, a daughter of Robert Edison and Leona King Toops.

She married Ernest Melvin Toops on January 1, 1954 and they were the parents of Alice Elaine and Mary. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1965. She later married Omar Derril Gallup in 1968. He preceded her in death in 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice Elaine Roller (Steven Jones) of St. Joseph, MO, and Mary (Mrs. Cliff) Couch of Farmington, IA; seven grandchildren: Joshua (Sarah) Roller, Jesse (Charla) Roller all of Fillmore, MO, Regina (Mrs. Shawn) Kunce of St. Joseph, MO, Nickie (Mrs. Jason) Logsdon of Wyaconda, MO, Mel (Susy) Couch of Cedar Falls, IA, Joe Couch of Kahoka, and Jim (Weng) Couch of Wayland; eleven great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Vivian, and Payten Roller all of Fillmore, MO, Gavin and Lily Kunce of St. Joseph, MO, Ashley (Mrs. Brandon) Cochenour of Farmington, IA, Dakota Logsdon (Brook Droege) of Wyaconda, MO, Beckett Couch of Cedar Falls, IA, McKenna Gorham of Quincy, IL, Krista Geverola and Mason Couch, both of Wayland, MO; four great-great grandchildren: Evelyn, Ethan and Ella Jo Cochenour, of Farmington, IA and Roman Logsdon of Wyaconda, MO; two sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Marvin) Losey of Mesa, AZ and Lila Peterson of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law, Montse Toops of Abeline, TX, Mary Toops of Glenwood, MO, Mabel Tyler of Price, UT, and Anna Jutte of Memphis, MO; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and two brothers, Dale and Nolan Toops.

Alice was a 1953 graduate of Kahoka High School. She was a life-long Methodist and member at the Kahoka United Methodist Church. She served in many positions at the church and was always willing to do whatever was needed and contribute physically or financially. She was currently in charge of Attendance and Membership. She was a 45-year member of the D.A.R.

Alice believed in giving back to the community and volunteered at the Senior Center for many years and supported the food pantry. For a long time, she volunteered at the well-baby clinic at the County Health Dept. She looked forward to Mary bringing her dog to visit and her grandbabies. Since being at the R.C.F., she loved sharing her bingo winnings with the grandchildren. She was devoted to her church and family and they fulfilled her life.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Barb Hagerla officiating. Special music was “In The Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.

Pallbearers were Jason Logsdon, Dakota Logsdon, Mel Couch, Josh Roller, Jesse Roller and Steven Jones.

Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Visitation was held at Wilson Funeral Home between the hours of 9 and 5 on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday with family receiving friends from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m.
