Robert LeRoy Gutting, age 93, of Wyaconda, MO, died peacefully on Wednesday,
July 15, 2015 at the Veteran Administration Medical Center in Iowa City, IA.

Bob was born March 29, 1922 at Luray, MO, the only child of LeRoy and Maude Jewert Gutting.

He was married to Margaret Pauline Downing who preceded him in death on September 30, 1990.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Karen Louise (Barry) Haage of Des Moines, IA, children, Sharon (Steve) Fletcher of Bonita Springs, FL, Robert Max (Gail) Gutting of Kahoka, MO, Roy Wayne (Vicki) Gutting of Kahoka, MO, Robert Kent Gutting (Wendy Morrison) of Wyaconda, MO, and Melody Ann “Dee Dee” (Clarence) Marsh of Hamilton, IL; six grandchildren: Rel (Sherice) Roberts of Lee’s Summit, MO, Brian Gutting of Bonaparte, IA, Jamie Gutting of St. Paul, IA, Jacoby Danial Gutting (Sherry Erp) of Montrose, IA, Eric Lee Gutting of Silver Bay, MN and Derek Allen (Shyla) Ellingboe of Wayland, MO; eight great-grandchildren: Lauren, Daxton and Jake Roberts, Jenssen Victoria, Lindsey and Abby Gutting, Bennett Lee Douglas and Alijah James Ellingboe; Bennett’s mother, Cheyann Raleigh; step-great grandson, Ryker; as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline; son, Otis Lester Gutting in 2000; and foster brother, Ed Neely.

Robert attended Luray School and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was also a member of the V.F. W. in Memphis.

He ran a salvage yard and trucking company in Kahoka and drove a truck all of his life.

Bob was raised in the Kahoka Christian Church and attended several churches through the years. He enjoyed going to auctions and cattle sales. In later years he loved to go to Branson to see all the shows and also supporting different benefits including those for the Kahoka Senior Center. He loved to get in his car and drive around and stop and have coffee with his friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Paul Harvey officiating. Special music was “How Great Thou Art” and “Six Days on the Road”.

Pallbearers were Jim Hooper, Jacoby Gutting, Brian Gutting, Eric Gutting, Roger Speer and Drake McAfee.

Burial with full military rites was in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Visitation was held at Wilson Funeral Home after noon on Sunday with family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m.
