James Jerry Pruett, 75, of Lebanon, Missouri, passed away Saturday morning, August 1, 2015, at the Dove Senior Citizens Home in Lebanon, where he had resided. The son of Dale and Irene Johnston Pruett he was born February 2, 1940 at Rutledge, Missouri.
James and his mother moved from Rutledge to San Pedro, California, where his father was stationed shortly after WW II started. They lived there until his mother retired from her job and then moved to Farmerville, Illinois, to be closer to their family.
He always had a smile and was friends with anyone he met. He did volunteer work in the Lebanon Hospital, helped deliver “Meals on Wheels” and attended at the Church of Christ regularly.
James liked getting outside and enjoying nature and the outdoors. He was an avid Elvis fan and loved to watch his movies or listen to his music.
He was preceded in death by his parents and other relatives.
Surviving relatives include his aunt, Naomi Chandler of Hillsdale, Illinois and several cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Pauline Cemetery Association in care of Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Dan Green officiating. Interment followed in the Pauline Cemetery at Rutledge, Missouri.
Pallbearers were family and friends. A meal was enjoyed by all that attended in the hospitality area of Payne’s after the service. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Payne Funeral Chapel, in Memphis.
