David E. St. Clair, age 87, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
David was born on August 20, 1928 at the family home in rural Wyaconda, MO, the son of Loyd and Ruth Barber St. Clair. He attended Wyaconda High School and graduated in the Class of 1946. He married Wilma Colvin on November 23, 1950, at the home of Rev. Ivan Cull in rural Williamstown.
At the age of 9, David accepted Jesus as his Savior at the New Woodville Baptist Church and was baptized south of Ballard in Lester Moore’s pond.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of Kahoka, MO; two daughters, Doris St. Clair Anderson of Nixa, MO, and Jeanette (Gary) Roberts of Burlington, IA; five grandchildren: Renee Anderson of Ozark, MO, Megan (Alan) Kleinkopf of Burlington, IA, Dallas E. (Adrienne) St. Clair of Granger, IA, Elizabeth (Justin) Long of Burlington, IA and Betsy (Allen) DeMois of Jefferson City, MO; five great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Virginia St. Clair of Kahoka, MO, Veva Kearns of Canton, MO, Edward and Becky Colvin of Wyaconda, MO, and Margaret and Kenny Clark of Quincy, IL; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darrell E. St. Clair on February 2, 2012; two brothers, Lee and Ralph St. Clair; and, three sisters: Isabel St. Clair Clark, Esther St. Clair Fields, and Louise St. Clair in infancy.
David was an insurance agent for 52 years as well as a carpenter and farmer. When REA came to the area he and his father did the wiring for many rural residents in the Northeast Missouri area. He loved Hereford cattle, Farmall/International tractors, and spending time at the farm and with his family.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Frank Whitney officiating assisted by Pastor Dean Tomlinson. Pianist was Ms. Renee Anderson with special music “On the Wings of A Dove, “This Old House” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.
Honorary Pallbearers were Dennis Briscoe, Glen Buckallew, Greg Colvin, John Heinze, Jim Lorigan, Paul O’Day, Kevin Palmer, Dale Priebe, Lynn St. Clair, George Steele and Wayne Welker.
Pallbearers were Neil Brown, Marc Colvin, Randy Justice, Dallas St. Clair, Mike St. Clair, and Tim St. Clair.
Visitation was held at Wilson Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015 with family receiving friends from 4-7 p.m.
Burial will in the New Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery south of Wyaconda, MO.
Memorials were suggested to the New Woodville Cemetery Association.
