Redmon Sponsors “Show Me Rural Jobs Act”
Missouri Representative Craig Redmon is trying to bring jobs to rural Missouri.
“In the last 12 years only 1.7 percent of investments in our state have gone to rural areas. It is important to me to expand opportunities for our youth to find good jobs in their hometowns. The state will assist startup and expansion investments that have strong potential for bringing permanent jobs to Rural Missouri. The funds required for such will be returned to the state through job expansion. The act is designed so that if the investments don’t pan out the funds will not be recovered through taxpayers, but the investors themselves,” Redmon said in a press release.
The act would provide tax credits for small businesses expanding or relocating in areas of less than 50,000 people. They should be engaged in business relating to manufacturing, plant sciences, technology, or agriculture technology.
During the first week of the session, Redmon has met with Missouri Corn Growers Association, Soybean Growers Association, and Cattlemen’s Association here in the Capitol to build support for the “Show Me Rural Jobs Act” to help spur small business investment in Rural Missouri.
