David E. Wood, 75, of rural Farmington, Iowa, passed away at 5:01 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua, Iowa.
Born April 2, 1940 the son of Dale E. and Christina M. (Jorae) Wood. On September 19, 1975 he married Cheryl E. Wilson in Michigan. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2015.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law Beth Wood of Bonaparte, Iowa, two grandsons: Jacob and Dalton Wood, three sisters: Julia (Joe) Matheney of Keokuk, Iowa, Janet (Don) Klasing of Dallas, Texas and Nancy (Rich) Ballew of Donnellson, Iowa; one brother-in-law David (Cheryl) Wilson of Keokuk and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cheryl and one son Rick Wood.
David was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington, Iowa. He was a farmer and bulldozer operator for several years. David enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington, Iowa where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington, Iowa with Father Dennis Hoffman as celebrant.
Burial will be at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa.
Memorials have been established in his memory to St. Boniface Catholic Church or the Farmington EMT’s.
