Stolen Vehicles Pulled From Mississippi River-Photos and Video

At least three stolen vehicles were pulled from the Mississippi River at Alexandria on Wednesday, May 25. The vehicles had been dumped in the river from the old boat ramp at the old park just north of the levee.

Divers from the Missouri Highway Patrol located the vehicles with sonar. Divers then attached a cable by which the cars were pulled to the bank by a tow truck.

Officers from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County were on hand.

One of the vehicles was believed to have been stolen in the Lee County, Iowa, area in recent weeks. The others had been in the water for several years.

According to Clark County Chief Deputy Shawn Webster, they had a tip that the vehicles had been dumped in the river at that location.

In one case, a pickup was driven into the river by wedging a metal bar between the seat and accelerator, then put in gear.
