Leroy F. Frazier, age 93, of Luray, MO, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 in the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

He was born March 31, 1923 near Luray, MO, a son of Roy and Lula Cochenour Frazier.

He attended school in Luray and at the age of 14 moved from home to work for the CCC in Clark County. He was inducted in the U.S. Navy on July 21, 1943 and separated on December 23, 1945. During this time he was married to Evelyn V. Hufford on June 4, 1942 at the Methodist parsonage in Kahoka. They were married 67 years until her death on June 27, 2009.

Survivors include two sons, James Frazier of Luray, MO (Connie Baker of Quincy, IL) and Dennis L. (Beckie) Frazier of Kahoka; one daughter, Debbie (Frank) Carter of Crawfordsville, IN; nine grandchildren: Mike (Sandy) Frazier of Kahoka, David (Tricia) Frazier of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jeff (Debbie) Frazier of Lindenhurst, IL, Steve (Tori) Frazier of Danville, IA, Ron Frazier of Kansas City, MO, Ryan (Teresa) Frazier and Denise Frazier, all of Kahoka, Kathy (Heath) Richmond of Ursa, IL and Tammy (David) Travis of Kansas City, MO; twenty great-grandchildren: Anthony (Tasha) Kerr, Cassie Kerr, Ross and Camille Frazier, Shane Gregory, Stephanie (Wes) Willey, Justina Frazier, Samantha Goble, Sydney, Ashley, Kaitlin, Kalie, Taegan, Ty, Alexa and Jackson Frazier; Kourtney and Kelson Richmond, and Wessyn and Shiloh Robinson; great great grand-daughter, Natalie Kerr; dear friend, Kathy Frazier of Kahoka; three sisters: Viola Philp, Erma Jean Tate and Juanita Gray; sisters and brother-in-law: William and Marion Hufford of Revere and Darlene Albertson of Mesa, AZ; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter, Lori Frazier Gregory; and three brothers: Albert, Tommy, and Raymond Frazier.

Leroy was bound to the land and committed to raising his family on a farm. He was a hired hand for several farms, worked several other jobs, including Foote Mineral in Keokuk,until he was able to save up enough money to purchase the equipment he would need. From 1950 until the time he entered the Clark Co. Nursing Home, he was farming and caring for the livestock he owned and raised as well as for others.

In the meantime, Leroy was a loyal Democrat and former committee member together with his wife, Evelyn. He was a former board member of the Clark Co. Ambulance District, a member of St. Francisville Lodge # 588, A.F.& A.M. at Wayland, and of American Legion Post # 1000 at Jefferson City. He had participated in the Honor Flight in August of 2014.

Leroy loved to get out and work ground, bulldoze, and check on the crops. His family was his greatest accomplishment.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Barb Hagerla officiating. Music was provided by vocalist Elaine Forrester, singing “In The Garden” and “God Be With You”. Pallbearers were: Mike Frazier, David Frazier, Jeff Frazier, Steve Frazier, Ron Frazier, Ryan Frazier. Honorary bearers were: Shane Gregory, Denise Frazier, Kathy Richmond and Tammy Travis. Burial with full military rites followed in the Combs Cemetery at Luray.

Friends called at Wilson Funeral Home after 9 a.m. on Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. followed by a public Masonic Service being conducted at 8.
