JUDITH HERR

Judith Elaine Herr, 64, of Gorin, Missouri, entered into eternal life, Thursday, September 1, 2016, at her home following a long illness.
She was born, August 13, 1952, at Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida, to Norman Kreider and Helen Marie Yoder Gochnauer.
Judith came early in life to a personal faith in the Lord. At age fourteen she was baptized as a public profession of her faith and she was happily active in the inner city mission church in Tampa, where her parents served.
She completed her high school education, 1968 – 1970, as a boarding student at Lancaster Mennonite School in Pennsylvania. She also spent a year at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago before she and Edwin Weaver Herr were married on June 24, 1972. In September of that year Edwin graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. After some travel and seeking direction, the young couple found themselves back in Davenport where Judith began the chiropractic studies program for herself.
Her work towards the D.C. degree was half completed when she left for the call to full time motherhood. The family moved to Gorin, Missouri in 1975 and the next thirty-five years were poured into the lives of the twelve children she bore and supporting her husband in his chiropractic practice. She devoted herself to the family and yet she kept a dream of being in a helping ministry after the children were grown, taking course work in preparation for a Christian Counseling service. Judith also enjoyed gardening and planting flowers and liked to read. Judith was a member of the New Boston Mennonite Church near Donnellson, Iowa.
God alone foresaw that she would be asked to minister by example, in bearing with grace and resignation the burden of dystonia that gradually but surely, over the last eight years, changed her life from one of helpful service to one of dependency on others for even the simplest things in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Judith is survived by her husband, Edwin, of Gorin and their twelve children: Daniel Herr and his wife, Delphine, of Ontario, Canada; David Herr and his wife, Jean, of Rutledge, Missouri; Jonathan Herr of Haiti, Jesse Herr and his wife, Melanie, of Brookfield, Missouri; Rachel Herr of Crockett, Kentucky; Ruth Herr of Harrisonburg, Virginia; Paul Herr of Gorin Missouri; Philip Herr and his wife, Carmella, of Bucklin, Missouri; Stephen Herr and his wife, Carolyn, Silas Herr, Deborah Herr and Joseph Herr, all of Gorin, Missouri and ten grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: James Gochnauer of Plain City, Ohio and Wayne Gochnauer of Tampa, Florida; uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 9, 2016, at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center, Route M, south of Memphis, Missouri, from 2 until 4 P.M. and 6 until 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center with Dale Hackman and Abner Oberholtzer officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery in rural Scotland County. Casket bearers will be her nine sons.
Memorials are suggested to the Judith Herr Memorial Fund and may be left at the community center or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
