Accident Claims Two Lives

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 4:32 p.m., in Marion County on U.S. Hwy 61, ten miles north of Palmyra, a two vehicle accident claimed the lives of an elderly couple from Laddonia, Missouri.
Seventy-four year old Maureen L. Young was driving a 2016 Jeep Patriot northbound when she lost control of the vehicle and it skidded off of the left side of the roadway crossing the median and striking head-on with a 2010 GMC Sierra driven by fifty-three year old Daniel Prisner of LaGrange, Missouri.
Howard B. Young, age 74, husband of the driver was a passenger in the Jeep. Both the driver and the passenger of the Jeep were pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Coroner Darrell McCoy. Neither of the occupants of the Jeep were wearing a safety device.
Prisner was wearing a safety device and was transported to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois with serious injuries.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged and were taken from the scene by Robert’s Garage of Durham, Missouri. The MSHP was assisted at the scene by members of the MSHP Crash Team, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Palmyra Fire, Marion County Ambulance and Air Evac.
