GRP Announces Auditions For “Calendar Girls”

Great River Players in Keokuk, Iowa, will present the hit comedy “Calendar Girls” on April 13, 14 and 15, 2018.

Auditions will be Saturday, January 27 at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 28 at 4:00 pm and Wednesday, January 31 at 7:00pm.  All auditions will be held at the Great River Players building located at 17 S 6th street in Keokuk.

“Calendar Girls” is based on a true story set in Yorkshire, England. It’s the story of a women’s club who make an annual charity calendar. After a member’s husband gets leukemia, the club is determined to spice things up to raise more money for cancer research, so they decide to create their own pin-up calendar.

This show sends a message to all women over the age of 40: YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!  From the heartwarming friendships to the well placed props covering a very strong illusion of nudity, this script is a great reminder of self and society’s acceptance.

There are roles for 10 women and 4 men.  All but two roles require actors over the age of 30.  For more complete characters’ descriptions, go to www.greatriverplayers.com.

If you’re interested in being part of the poignant show without being on stage, please stop by one of the auditions or contact the director, Sue Scott.
