Three Knox County Juveniles Arrested for Felony Assault

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Knox County Juvenile Office are investigating incidents alleged to have taken place on the Knox County R-1 School District school grounds. The details of those incidents are not being released to the public because multiple juvenile offenders and multiple juvenile victims are alleged to be involved.

According to the Knox County Sheriff Robert Becker, three juveniles were arrested at the district on Monday, September 10, 2018 and charged with Class C felony assault in the second degree. They are being held at the Bruce Normile Juvenile Justice Center in Kirksville, MO.

“We’ve been made aware of a situation at school. Both law enforcement and school officials are dealing with it and will continue to do everything they possibly can to protect students,” said Knox County R-I School District Superintendent Andy Turgeon.

According to Turgeon, details about the “situation” and the identities of the juveniles involved cannot and will not be released by the district.

“Only limited details about the investigation can be released because it involves juveniles,” said Knox County Sheriff Robert Becker. “The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Knox County Juvenile Office are conducting the ongoing criminal investigation.”
