SIDNEY PAUL AVANT

 

Sidney Paul Avant, 82 of Lewistown, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his home in Lewistown.

The son of Sidney P. and Mary E. Austin Avant was born on August 21, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was united in marriage to Diane Samuels on September 26, 1958 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Paul was a member of the Hester Community Church.  He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Massey.  He owned and operated Avant & Lakey Plumbing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Upon retiring, he served with his wife as missionaries in Mexico. Serving his Savior Jesus Christ and loving his family brought him his greatest joy.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Avant of Lewistown, Mo.; three children, Curtis (Deb) Avant of Oklahoma City, Ok, Cyd (Stephen) Connelly of Lewistown, Mo. and Keith Avant of Oklahoma City, Ok.; eight grandchildren, Ally (Andrew) Stark, Meagan Connelly, Erin Avant, Klint (Courtney) Avant, Hayden (Haley) Avant, Samuel Avant, Joshua Avant and Isaiah Avant; five great-grandchildren, Ava Stark, Bells Stark, Brinlee Avant, Gus Stark and Sidney Avant; special nieces & nephews, Bruce (Michelle) Thompson, Tony (Allie) Thompson, Krici (Mark) Mohr, Kaci (Sherman) Collins and Kimi Minton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jennie Lou Minton and Oma “Susie” and (Danny) Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Hester Community Church in rural Maywood, Missouri with Pastor Lance Bonnell officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in the Lewistown Cemetery, Lewistown, Missouri provide by Lewis County Memorial Post #578.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of services at Hester Community Church.

Memorials may be made to the Hester Community Center Fund.

Grandson Pallbearers: Klint Avant, Hayden Avant, Samuel Avant, Joshua Avant, Isaiah Avant and Andrew Stark.
