JIM LINCOLN

Orlo James “Jim” Lincoln, 80, of Novelty, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Jim was born on September 25, 1938, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Orlo Sidney and Bonnie Flossie Neal Lincoln.
He graduated from the Novelty High School in Novelty, Missouri, in the Class of 1956. After graduation he farmed with his father on the family farm north of Novelty.
On September 25, 1958, in Novelty, Missouri, Jim married Marilyn Joyce Snow and they made their home in Novelty.
Jim began his career with MoDot, in Novelty, Missouri, before they moved to Centralia, Missouri, where Jim worked for Lincoln Motor Company for six years, before returning to Novelty to make their home. After returning he continued his career with the Missouri Department of Transportation and worked more than 33 years out of the Novelty Road Barn before retiring in 2000.
In retirement, Jim drove for Cardwell Lumber and was a cattle farmer. He enjoyed working his cows, working in his shop and his garden, but most of all he loved spending time with family and his grandchildren.
He was the son of a minister and as a kid Jim said he attended church every day of the week for a year, traveling with his father to revivals. He was very active in the Christian Church and had served on the Church Board and as Song Leader at both Novelty and Centralia and currently attended the Leonard Christian Church in Leonard, Missouri.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marilyn Lincoln of Novelty, Missouri; four children, Connie Joyce and her husband Allen Ballard of New London, Missouri, Jerry Dee and his wife Colleen Lincoln of Novelty, Missouri, Terry Lee and his wife Lana Lincoln of Belton, Missouri and Cindy Elizabeth and her husband Jason Violette of Novelty, Missouri; six grandchildren, Garrett James and his wife Haley Lincoln, Leah Kay Lincoln, Nicollette Cary Lincoln, Allen Kenneth Ballard, Taylor Danielle Lincoln and Cadie Elizabeth Violette; two sisters, Opal Gee of Longmont, Colorado and Helen and Larry Osborne of Morris, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Mac Dancy of Lincoln, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Pat Lincoln of Webb City, Missouri; a very special nurse and friend, Allison Dowling at Ellis-Fischel in Columbia; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, O.S. and Flossie Lincoln; four sisters and their husbands, Florence and Harold Olmstead, Ruth and Bob Andrews, Doris Dancy and Byron Clark and Lois and Paul Benjamin; and a brother, Roy Lincoln.
Funeral Services with Brother Larry Smith officiating along with Heath Clark will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Burial will be in the Novelty Cemetery in Novelty, Missouri, with Neil Clark, Tim Clark, Stan Clark, Randy Doss, Larry Henderson, Carroll Wilkerson, David Olmstead as casket bearers along with Honorary Bearers, Dr. Ferrell Moots, Alvie Lee Parrish, Jerry Poor, John Nagel, Roger Parton, Ray Prebe, Billy Mallett, Mike Fox, Mike Daniels, Paul Echternacht, Lyndel Echternacht, and Mike Franke.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Jim Lincoln may be left to the Novelty Cemetery Association. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
