Knox County Water District Customers Wake Up to No Water, Technicians Searching for Leak

***Update*** – 10:30 a.m. – July 22 – ***BOIL ORDER ISSUED*** The Knox County Public Water Supply District No. 1 is reporting the rural water leak was found by a Knox County resident and fixed by Horst Plumbing at approximately 9:30 a.m. KCPWSD customers affected by the temporary loss of water are under a 48-hour boil order from the time their water is restored. Areas affected include Bee Ridge, the Novelty area, west of Plevna and south of Edina.

***Knox County, Missouri – Monday, July 22, 2019 – 8:40 a.m. – Technicians from the Knox County Public Water Supply District No. 1 are scouring the countryside to find a water leak.

According to KCPWSD Director Gary Mallett, water service was interrupted at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. As of 7:20 a.m. Monday, the leak had not been located due to darkness and rainy weather.

“It’s still not dry, but at least we have light,” said KCPWSD Director Gary Mallett. “We’ve been out looking (overnight) with flashlights.”

Reports of water outages have come in from around Novelty, south of Edina and Bee Ridge.

Mallett told The Edina Sentinel anyone who sees a large amount of water out of place should report it to the district’s office in Knox City.

The Knox County Community Center has offered the facilities to rural water customers who need a place to shower or use the bathroom. Those affected without a membership access card can call the Knox County Health Department to set up a time to use the facility. That phone number is (660)397-3396.

Once the leak is located and fixed, a Boil Order will be issued, according to Mallett.
