Highway 15 Bar And Grille Opens In Bethel

By Marlana Smith

Highway 15 Bar and Grille opened its doors on July 23. The new restaurant is located 136 North Main Street, in Bethel, at the former Smokin’ J’s. Before Smokin’ J’s there had been a steakhouse in the same location since the late 70’s to early 80’s.

Manager Kylie Derboven said they had to put some fresh paint on the walls, but that was the extent of doing any changes to the building.

Derboven’s husband, Shawn, was the one who came up with the name of the restaurant.

“We changed names of the restaurant because we wanted a fresh start for this place,” said Kylie.

Owner Wendeline Brumbaugh said something that makes the restaurant different than others is, “Good food, good service, a family atmosphere, and we give generous portions of food.”

Kylie said, “We hold a special place in our hearts for this place and my Dad built this place. We want to grow this family business and grow it into a place where people enjoy coming and have a good place to eat.”

Owner Joe Brumbaugh added, “I want to please the customers, serve good food, have a nice place for people to come and try and keep this place as family oriented as we can. I want everyone to leave here with a good taste in their mouth and have more compliments than criticism.”

Highway 15 Bar and Grille offers steaks, specialty sandwiches, boiled and fried shrimp, and even a 20 ounce bone in ribeye and much more.

Wendeline said, “Reservations are available for birthdays, anniversaries, or any special occasions.” Reservations can be made at 660.284.6800.

The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the bar is open 5:00 p.m. to close.
