RAYMOND L. MOREHOUSE
Raymond L. Morehouse, age 87, of rural Kahoka, MO passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 in Unity Point Health Center in Keokuk, IA.
Raymond was born July 5, 1932 in Clark County, MO, the son of Asa and Lula Pearl Campbell Morehouse. He was united in marriage on August 24, 1952 to Rose L. Egley at the United Methodist Church in Wayland, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; five children: Larry (Karen) Morehouse of rural Basco, IL; Barbara Webber of Grain Valley, MO, Marsha (Bill) Shonka of Keokuk, IA, Gary (Alice) Morehouse of rural Alexandria, MO, and Craig (Brenda) Morehouse of Hamilton, IL; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie (Allen) Henderson of Gillespie, IL; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Louise Morehouse of Kahoka, MO, Mary Morehouse of Wayland, MO; Rosemary Egley of Revere, MO, Laurel (Boots) Peterson of New Baden, IL; Velma (David) Kirchner of Four Seasons, MO; Sandy Egley of Kahoka, MO; Pati (Howard) Toops of Burlington, IA; and Pam Irvin of Kahoka, MO;as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Robert and Wilma Egley;a son-in-law, Scott Cole; three brothers, Floyd, Edwin, and Marvin Morehouse; a sister, Betty Mohr; sister-in-law, Hazel Morehouse; and brothers-in-law, Everett Mohr, Gene Egley, Paul Egley, and John Irvin.
Raymond worked for the Clark Co. Road District and then at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, for 42 years, retiring in 1994.
He also farmed and raised cattle.
He enjoyed visiting with his neighbors as long as his health allowed.
Raymond enjoyed being outdoors with his dogs and cattle and his Sunday morning church on the hill with the squirrels.
He was completely at his happiest when he could have his entire family together.
His kids and grandkids meant the world to him.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka. Special music was instrumental “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden”.
Pallbearers were Gary Morehouse, Brett Cole, Nathan Morehouse, Matthew Morehouse, Eric Morehouse, Adam Shonka and Joel Morehouse.
Burial was in the Zion Cemetery.
Visitation was held Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 10 a.m. Sunday with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Zion Cemetery.
