KIP WOOD

 

C. M. “Kip” Wood, 86, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri.
Kip was born on November 6, 1933, in Camden, Illinois, the son of Clifford Houston “Kip” and Elva Wilhelmina Kiefer Wood.
He grew up and attended school at Augusta High and graduated in the Class of 1951, and took classes at Western Illinois College.
He served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the Cyril A. Graham American Legion Post #261.
On February 24, 1956, in Jacksonville, Illinois, Kip married Verna Marie Herhens.
Kip worked for Aetna Finance in Kirksville, Missouri, Purina Mills, Allis-Chalmers and John Deere all of Edina, Missouri.
He enjoyed listening to music, hunting, and fishing.
Kip is survived by his wife Verna Wood of Edina, Missouri; four sons, Wyatt Wood of Kinderhook, Illinois, Tris and Susie Wood of Ewing, Missouri, Jason Wood of Maple Hill, North Carolina and Casey Wood of Novelty, Missouri; a daughter, Wendy Wood of Kirksville, Missouri; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Beverly Diane wood and Maryann Preston.
Burial with Full Military Honors by Cyril A. Graham American Legion Post #261, will be at the Harmony Cemetery, north of Hedge City, Missouri.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Kip Wood may be left to the Harmony Cemetery Association or the American Legion. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
