MARILYN BESSIE KELLY
Marilyn Bessie Kelly, 84, of Wayland, passed away at 9:00 am on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Montrose Health Center in Montrose, Iowa.
She was born on June 4, 1936 in Keokuk, the daughter of the late Sidney and Jennie (Land) Cook. She was married to the late Bennie Jacobs and later married to Delbert Scott. She married Don (Papa Don) Kelly on June 21, 1975 and he preceded her in death in May of 2013.
In Marilyn’s earlier years she owned and operated the Airport Café in Willows, California.
Later, she and her husband Don owned and operated Kelly’s Janitorial Service for several years.
Marilyn was a member of St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Wayland, a member of the Altar Society and served on the church council.
She and Don were very active members of the church.
She is survived by her sons; Anthony Scott of Orland, California, Donald Kelly of Kahoka, Sean (Melanie) Kelly of Alexandria, Pat (Cheryl) Kelly of Jacksonville, Illinois and Tim (Beth) Kelly of Lewiston, Maine, daughters; Marie Auld of Wayland, Debbie Bridgewater of Seymour, Indiana and Brenna Kelly of Jacksonville, Illinois, brothers; Sidney (Diana) Cook of California, Merle (Marva) Cook of Iowa, Dale (Deloris) Cook of Kahoka, Thomas (Kay) Cook of Marion, Iowa, David (Sue) Cook of California, Mack (Laura) Hawkins of Keokuk and Michael Hawkins of Keokuk, sisters; Daisy Hawkins of Kahoka and Dixie (Dale) Small of Wayland, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by a daughter JoAnn Moskwitz, son-in-law Bernie Moskwitz, two sisters; Patricia Haage and June Cook-Martin and by a son, Matthew Kelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Kahoka. Father Rob Fields will preside. Interment will follow at Frazee Cemetery in rural Alexandria. Visitation will be held at 9:00 am until the time of mass at the church.
Memorials in memory of Marilyn are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
